My final project revolves around books – specifically sketchbooks – as the main part of the creating process, and the meaning of sketchbooks as a side-object that usually wouldn’t get the main stage.
In my working process, I searched for the un-temporariness in sketchbooks, while using glass as my main material as well as testing it with varies techniques and different material combinations. I also experimented sizes and formats of the artwork, while using the shape of the book as my main reference.
The work happened in two levels simultaneously: one focusing on pages of sketches and the act of drawing solely, while the other tries to imitate a book as a static object, as an interpretation to “missing treasures”.
In my drawings, I chose to bring natural, raw subjects to imply the meaning of sketchbooks within the sketches themselves.
